Where do you find code violation records for Atlanta, Georgia?
Atlanta publishes its citywide code enforcement cases free in a Code Enforcement Data 2021-2023 layer on services5.arcgis.com. Query it in your browser to pull case numbers, descriptions, statuses, street addresses, and open dates, or filter to open cases only.
How do I pull code violations records step by step?
The City of Atlanta's planning department GIS team publishes citywide code enforcement cases, and code cases flag distressed houses whose owners often welcome a cash offer.
Open Atlanta's code enforcement data layer
Navigate to the City of Atlanta's Code Enforcement Data 2021-2023 data page. It is published by the city's planning department GIS team and holds citywide code enforcement cases; it is not listed on the City of Atlanta Open Data Hub catalog, so you open the layer page directly.
Open the Query page
Scroll to the bottom of the layer page and click the Query link. This opens a form that lets you pull case records right in your browser.
Ask for the cases
In the Where box type 1=1 to see every case, or Case_Status = 'Open' to only see cases still open. In the Out Fields box enter CAP__,Case_Short_Description,Case_Status,NBR,DIR,NAME,STR,Open_Date.
Sort newest cases first
In the Order By Fields box type Open_Date DESC so the most recently opened cases come back first, set Format to HTML, then click Query (GET). The records appear below the form.
Record the data
For each case, note the case number (CAP), the case description, the status, the street address (house number, direction, street name, and street type shown as separate columns — all Atlanta properties), and the open date. Code cases flag distressed houses whose owners often welcome a cash offer.
