What it is

Homes set for a sheriff sale after a foreclosure case. Each Ohio county has its own sale site, and each sale day has its own list.

Why it matters

These owners are close to losing the property, and the sale date gives a clear deadline. The list shows the appraised value and opening bid, so you can spot possible equity fast.

The fields you get

  • Sale date and time
  • Case status
  • Case number
  • Parcel ID
  • Property address
  • Appraised value
  • Opening bid
  • Deposit requirement

When checked, big counties showed sale days up to about three months ahead. Small counties often had only one or two sale days.

Follow these 7 steps

  1. Open the Madison County sheriff sale site

Go to the Madison County link on this page. You will see the home page with three big buttons. You do not need to log in.

Tip: The numbers in a day are active / scheduled. 9 / 15 FC means 9 items are still active out of 15.
  3. Click a sale day

Click a colored Foreclosure day. The Preview Items For Sale page opens with that date at the top.

  5. Go through every page

Each page shows 10 items. If the top right says page 1 of 3, click NEXT until you reach the last page.
  6. Check Auctions Closed or Canceled

Lower on the page, Auctions Closed or Canceled lists items that stopped, such as Withdrawn or Rescheduled. Do not add these as active leads.

  7. Copy the records

The site has no export button. Copy each property from Auctions Waiting into your spreadsheet. Add the sale date, case number, parcel ID, address, appraised value and opening bid. Repeat for each sale day you need.

Tips for after you pull

  • The list has no owner name. Use Auditor Search in the left menu to look up the owner with the parcel ID. We tested this link in Franklin County, where it opens the county auditor owner search.

Watch out for these

  • Case Status can say ACTIVE on an item that was withdrawn. Trust the Auction Status and the section it is in.
  • The Parcel ID on this site is plain text, not a link. Copy it, then paste it into the auditor search.
  • The ZIP code can show nine digits, such as 432240000. The first five digits are the ZIP code.
  • An Opening Bid can show $0.00. Do not read that as a real price. Check the case first.
  • Small counties may have no upcoming sale day. Check the next months, then check again later.
